Northwestern Livestock Commission
Company originated fifty years ago with the Frank Wink Family. A
fire in 1966 destroyed the buildings, but it was rebuilt and continued
to provide livestock sales, being purchased in 1980 by Gary and
Rhonda Miller.
Every Tuesday NWLCC conducts a cattle
sale. Until a few years ago, most of the dairy business in Oregon
was in the western part of the state; however, since 2000 there
have been numerous dairies developed within a fifty mile radius.
Now over 30,000+ head of cows are being milked daily in this area.
The Tillamook Cheese Factory is
currently processing over 1,000,000 pounds of product annually in
Boardman, Oregon, which is sixteen miles west of the sale yard on
highway I-84.
The "Hermiston
Extravaganza" are a catalogued sale held the third
weekend of February, May, and October. Customers come from the Continental
United States, Hawaii, and Canada to purchase horses at what have
become the largest horse sales on the West Coast.
